Senior Python Engineer (2801)
Technologies
Description
Ciklum
is looking for a
Senior Python Engineer
to join our team full-time in Ukraine.
We are a custom product engineering company that supports both multinational organizations and scaling startups to solve their most complex business challenges. With a global team of over 4,000 highly skilled developers, consultants, analysts and product owners, we engineer technology that redefines industries and shapes the way people live.
About the role:
As a Senior Python Engineer, become a part of a cross-functional development team engineering experiences of tomorrow.
Project Description: The project focuses on developing a remote scanning engine capable of discovering IP-based devices across enterprise networks using a combination of network protocols and integration techniques — without requiring agents on target systems. Collected data is processed, enriched, and synchronized with a CMDB to support accurate configuration item management and infrastructure mapping.
Responsibilities:
Develop Core Scanning Logic: Write high-performance, concurrent code in Python or Go to handle large-scale network sweeps using Nmap, ICMP, and ARP
Implement Agentless Interrogation: Build and maintain the modules responsible for remote data extraction via SNMP (v1-v3), WMI, and SSH to query diverse hardware without local agents
Build Fingerprinting Heuristics: Create and refine logic for device identification, accurately mapping raw scan data to specific vendors, models, and firmware versions
Engineer Data Pipelines: Develop backend processes for data normalization and deduplication, ensuring that messy network data is cleaned before it hits the database
API Integration & Sync: Build and optimize RESTful APIs to push enriched configuration item (CI) data into the Xurrent CMDB, ensuring synchronization is reliable and performant
Network Troubleshooting: Debug complex discovery issues related to TCP/IP fundamentals, such as routing hurdles, VLAN segmentation, and firewall blocks
Cloud & Hybrid Discovery: Develop API-based collectors to bridge the gap between physical on-prem hardware and cloud-managed network devices
Maintain Technical Documentation: Document protocol-specific quirks, discovery schemas, and API contracts to ensure the engine remains maintainable by the wider engineering team
Requirements:
Strong proficiency in Python and/or Go
Solid understanding of TCP/IP networking fundamentals (subnets, VLANs, routing)
Hands-on experience with network discovery and scanning protocols (Nmap, ICMP, ARP)
Experience working with SNMP (v1/v2c/v3) for querying network devices (routers, switches, firewalls, printers)
Familiarity with WMI for remote Windows system interrogation
Experience with SSH-based discovery across Linux/Unix environments
Experience integrating with REST APIs, including cloud-managed network devices
Strong knowledge of device fingerprinting techniques (OS detection, vendor, model, firmware identification)
Experience building data pipelines for deduplication and normalization
Experience developing REST APIs for CMDB integration and CI synchronization
Hands-on experience with CMDB integrations (CI creation, updates, conflict resolution, relationship mapping)
Background in SaaS or product engineering environments is preferred
Familiarity with tools such as Netdisco, OpenNMS, or JDisc is a plus
What’s in it for you?
Strong community: Work alongside top professionals in a friendly, open-door environment
Growth focus: Take on large-scale projects with a global impact and expand your expertise
Tailored learning: Boost your skills with internal events (meetups, conferences, workshops), Udemy access, language courses, and company-paid certifications
Endless opportunities: Explore diverse domains through internal mobility, finding the best fit to gain hands-on experience with cutting-edge technologies
Flexibility: Enjoy radical flexibility — work remotely or from an office, your choice
Care: We’ve got you covered with company-paid medical insurance, mental health support, and financial & legal consultations
About us:
