Senior Data Engineer
to join a fast-growing company in the education and learning sector, where data is fundamental to shaping digital products, learner experiences, and business strategy.
The organisation is scaling its platforms into new verticals and global markets. The Product & Technology function is evolving to support secure, scalable, and engaging data-driven experiences across the entire learner lifecycle. This role offers a long-term opportunity to design, build, and evolve modern data platforms that enable analytics, support data-informed decision-making, and drive sustainable business growth.
What You Will Do
Design, build, and operate reliable, production-grade data pipelines
Extract data from APIs, log files, operational databases, and event streams
Load and manage data in cloud-based data lakes and data warehouses
Contribute to the development of modern, cloud-native data platforms
Ensure scalability, performance, reliability, and security
Implement robust testing, monitoring, and optimization practices
Identify root causes of production issues and resolve them effectively
Deliver scalable solutions to improve pipeline stability and performance
Partner closely with Product, Engineering, and Data teams
Translate business and product requirements into data engineering solutions
Own and improve data quality validation processes
Ensure privacy, security, and governance standards are met
Contribute to the evolution of data quality frameworks
Work closely with Data, Product Management, Product Design, and Engineering
Operate in an Agile environment
Support a customer-centred, design-led, data-informed culture

Comfortable working across the full data lifecycle, from ingestion to optimization

Qualifications
Must-Have
Proven experience in production Data Engineering roles
Strong cloud-based data platform experience
Advanced Python and SQL skills
Solid understanding of data modelling, partitioning, and compaction strategies
Experience with event-driven or real-time analytics systems
Ability to work with multiple programming languages
Experience translating business needs into data solutions
